Winter 2005 Membership Newsletter

Hello once again.  Our mail and minutes will be posted on our website (http://ted627.tripod.com). If you do not have access to  e-mail we will mail members a copy of our newsletters. Please tell us if you require a mailed copy.

At our March  meeting we discussed several areas of interest to us. Among them were obtaining a new repeater for 2M and perhaps a 70cm additional repeater. Our local Emergency Manager, Todd Hillman is looking into grant monies for this project.

Todd reports that we will be getting a new generator for our Elmer repeater site soon.

We have formal ARRL recognition for our ARES club and are in the process of getting everything up and running. We will look into adding a RACES component once we get ARES running smoothly.

As always, we are actively seeking club members for a number of reasons. First of all is the common joy that we share in Ham Radio. Second, we need to know who we can count on in case of emergencies whether local or statewide. Thirdly, we all use our club repeater and it costs the club for upkeep and maintenance. In the event we cannot get Federal funding for a new repeater, we will have to bear the cost ourselves. We would like to keep this an open repeater and our dues helps us to maintain this very valuable service to all Amateurs. It has been kind of club policy to not assess dues unless needed. We did not collect any dues in 2004. We have to collect this year. Dues are $12.00 per Amateur and $1.00 for anyone living at the same address. Full time students and Military personnel on active duty are exempt from paying dues.

All interested persons in Amateur Radio may belong to our club.

There will be a Sky-Warn in-service 29 Mar at 7:00 pm. at the conference room in Sandusky. All Members who will participate in weather related activities need to attend this training.

We hope to hear from you one way or another on membership. Also please join us on the ARES net on Thursday evenings at 9:00 PM (146.860). Our next club meeting will be 5 June, 2005 2:00PM at the County Extension Office in Sandusky. Call the repeater for directions to the meeting.
